BNHS Cheer raised just under $1,300$1,294.50 for St. Jude Children's hospital by selling our "Tackle for the Kids" t-shirts for the Boylan game. Donations will be made in honor of Sydney Ives. We had 100% participation!
Thunderfest Decorating
Thanks to Kelsi S., Danielle W., Paige, Taylor, Rachel, Stanzie, Lexi R., "Woody", Megan, Maddie, Dani H., and Jessica for helping the Boosters set up for "Thunderfest"! 12 people working for an hour make a big difference! THANK YOU! 1 hr.

Lexi R., Stanzie, Taylor and Rachel helped with Northern Illinois Hospice's golf outing by selling raffle tickets. Thank you girls for dressing in uniform and representing BNHS!

Maplecrest Gardening
Cheerfit took on a new skill on Wednesday with gardening at Maplecrest nursing home. Arm workout included hosta digging, root pulling, flowerplanting, and dirt shoveling. Thanks to Maplecrest for the Dari-Ripple coupons :) We hope we didn't ruin any flowers!!! 2 hrs.
YMCA Camp, June 8-12th
Girls taught 13 little campers cheers, chants and stunts all week at the YMCA! It was a great trial run for Junior Camp in August! Thanks so much to: Alicia, Madison, Brooke, Ally, Aubrey, Thalia, Skyler, Brittany, Nicole, Kelsi, Danielle, & Paige 10 hrs.
BCMS Tryouts 5/18, 19 & 20
Thank you to all our girls who helped teach material and run tryouts for BCMS! Special thanks to Lexi R. and Madison for making up the cheer :) Participants were: Maddie, Jessica, Lexi R., Katelyn, Ally, Kelsey W., Abby, Amy, Brenda, Stanzie, Taylor, Sarah, & Kristin

Rockford Marathon 5/17/09
Brooke, Alicia, Megan and Woody were at the Rockford YMCA at 7 AM to help the Cross Country team work the Rockford Marathon. Our 4 cheerleaders were in charge of the food (what a surprise - we love food :) Thank you girls for helping out! I believe some BNHS teachers were running in the race! 3 hrs.

All cheerleaders are expected to participate in this event! We will be helping with setup, and you are all expected to attend to start this new Tradition at BNHS! Invite your dads/moms now and make dinner arrangements with your friends; buy a cute dress :) They have a great DJ lined up and this will be really fun if you guys start the tradition! THIS IS MANDATORY!
Brownie Troop at Lincoln School
On Wed. Feb. 18th we were invited to a Brownie Meeting at Lincoln School, and taught the Brownies motions, stunting, and jumps! We let them do thigh stands and pickup shoulder sits on the Varsity girls, as well as Simon Says and a tumbling demonstration. Thanks to Madison, Sarah, Courtney and Megan for taking time out for Community Service :)

Seth Whitman Book Fair and Barnes and Noble
Our Red Varsity Squad did and AWESOME job at Barnes and Noble Friday, Dec. 5th demonstrating stunting and reading stories for Seth Whitman's Bookfair! We had quite a crowd looking on as we performed both group and coed stunting, and the kids even got a chance to come do thigh stands on the cheerleaders after the demonstration. Bubbles and Rachel read several stories, as did our BNHS Football players. Big thanks to: Bubbles, Dani, Alicia, Stanzie,Taylor, Steph, Luis, Lexi R., Rina, Rachel and Red!

Great job ladies helping out at the YMCA on August 16th! Getting up early on a Saturday morning, volunteering for 4 hours in the hot sun! Treats for Band Campers
After a slight mix-up on Thursday, cheerleaders sucessfully provided treats for the band on Friday after a hot day of camp! Band students enjoyed some fresh bottled water and freezer pops! Girls who helped were: Megan, Gabby, Kelsey White, Amy Johnson, Abby Lepianka, Sami Williams-Lacy, Lexi Boling.
Varsity Girls Run "UPWARD BOUND" cheer camp at Westminster Pres. Church!
6 Varsity girls helped run a 5-day cheer camp for young girls at Westminster Presbyterian church last week, and did an outstanding job! Camp was similar to our "Junior Camp", and the girls were able to send home flyers with the campers promoting our camp in the fall. Earning Community Service hours were: Megan (12 hrs.), Stephanie (12 hrs.), Gabby (9 hrs.), Kalenna (9 hrs.), Lexi W. (3 hrs.), & Kristin K. (3 hrs.).
BNHS Varsity Volunteers in Heritage Run!
7 BNHS Varsity members volunteered on SHORT NOTICE :) to help the basketball team at the 2008 Heritage Run on Saturday, June 28th at 7:30 AM! Thank you so much for rolling out early on a Saturday morning to: Marina, Megan, Alyssa "Fett", Bubbles, Aggie, Rachel, and Lexi R.! Great job girls!

"Sock-It-To-'em" Night
BNHS Cheer - Shoes for the Homeless Drive! We will be collecting used men's athletic shoes at the Fall Parent meeting on August 5th - please SPREAD THE WORD! These shoes will be donated to Carpenter's Place in Rockford, which assists chronically homeless men, and assists them with employment needs! Tell all your guy friends to bring those shoes!

Skylar, Ali, Carissa, Jessica, Bailey, "Brooksey", "Bubbles"& Gabby helped out at the Belvidere Sister Cities Pigroast on Saturday night! I received this letter from Executive Board Member, Joan Lund:
"The girls were wonderful last night at the pig roast! We put them to work right away, and they made things go very smoothly. In particular, at the dessert tables, my member volunteers did not show up as planned, so the girls took over and handled it very well. They all had dinner on us when their shift was over. Besides that, some members offered donations for the squad, and I am sure that more will be coming. It seems like a win-win situation for both of us: good publicity for the cheerleaders and needed help for Sister Cities, so maybe we can repeat it again next year?" - Joan Lund
